Phillips Named Captain
Wednesday night at training camp Blenheim Blades head coach Bob McNear, announced that veteran centre Taylor Phillips, of Blenheim, will be the Great Lakes Junior 'C' Hockey League team's captain for the coming season. Phillips, who is wearing one of the team's new sweaters, had 17 goals and 20 assists last season - his second with the team. The assistant captains will be announced at a later date.
Blades open training camp
Blenheim Blades kicked off the first stage of their Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League 2010-11 season Monday night at the Blenheim arena with the opening of training camp that attracted close to 60 players, including several veterans.
“This is the best opening night I have ever had since I have been coaching this team,” said head coach Bob McNear.

Blenheim Blades will kick-off preparation for the 2010-11 Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League season when training camp opens Monday, Aug. 23 at 8 p.m. at the Blenheim Memorial Arena.
The first week of sessions will run the 23rd, Wednesday the 25th and Friday the 27th from 8 to 10 p.m. with a Black and Gold game Sunday, Aug. 29 at 7:15 p.m.
