Blades defeat Lakers in exhibition contest

Blenheim Blades kicked off their Junior ‘C’ exhibition season with a pair of games last week at the Blenheim Memorial Arena – a 3-2 win over Wallaceburg Lakers Sunday and a 9-4 defeat at the hands of Dresden Kings Thursday.

The Blades will have one more exhibition game – Friday night at 7:30 in Dresden – before opening their Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League season against the same Kings Sunday, Sept. 13 at Memorial Arena.

In Thursday’s game the Blades dressed almost an entire rookie lineup and then inserted six veterans for the Wallaceburg contest.

Kings beat Blades in exhibition opener

Dresden

Blenheim Blades and Dresden Kings hooked up in a Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League exhibition game before a large crowd Thursday night at the Blenheim arena with the Kings coming out on top 9-4.

The contest was the first for both teams and featured almost totally-rookie lineups.
Next action for the Blades will be Sunday when they host Wallaceburg Lakers at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4 Blenheim will travel to Dresden to again take on the Kings at 7:30 in their final exhibition game.

Blades looking for videographer

Blenheim Blades of the Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League are looking for someone with an interest in hockey and videotaping to videotape the club’s games this year. The Blades play a 40-game schedule beginning Sept. 13.

Blades Open at Home Against Dresden

Blenheim Blades will begin their 2009-10 Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League season Sunday, Sept. 13 when they host their biggest rival – Dresden Kings – at 7:15 p.m.

Last year the Blades and Kings hooked up in an exciting North Division semi-final series that went six games, with two of them decided in sudden-death overtime, before the Kings prevailed and went on to the division final against Mooretown Flags.
