Old-time hockey returns for a night in Blades-Essex game
Prior to the current Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League season the Ontario Hockey Association changed the fighting rules to say that when a player has three fights he is suspended for a game, a fourth fight means three games, and a fifth six games plus a visit to the OHA office.
The new rules have pretty much eliminated fighting with the Blades having just seven in the 31 games prior to hosting South Division leading Essex 73’s Sunday night.
Blades explode for 12 goals in route of Comets
Blenheim Blades, 12 points behind Alvinston Flyers in the race for the fourth and final Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League North Division playoff spot on Dec. 12, have cut the gap to five by winning four of their last five games to wrap up the month of December.
Sunday the Blades blasted Kingsville Comets of the South Division 12-4 before 313 fans on Skate With The Blades night at the Blenheim arena. The goals were the most in one game for a Blades team this decade.
Happy Holidays
On behalf of the Blenheim Blades Executive, Managers, Coaches and Support Staff, we would like to wish all of our fans a Safe and Happy Holiday Season.
The Blades are off for The Holiday Break and resume play on Sunday, Dec 27th hosting The Kingsville Comets at 7:15pm.
