Seguin shines as Blades win second straight
Wheatley – A month ago Blenheim Blades traveled to Wheatley to take on Wheatley Sharks and got smoked 9-0 in Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League inter-division action.
Monday night the Blades were back in Wheatley, but this time thanks to a four-goal, one assist night by rookie sensation Alex Seguin, the outcome was a 6-4 victory that keeps the Blades in the hunt for the fourth, and final, North Division playoff spot.
United Way Night
It was United Way Night at the Blenheim Memorial Arena. The Blenheim Blades donate $1.00 from every ticket sold that night.
On hand for cermonial faceoff were. Chris Edwards Alvinston Flyers, Matt Frain - Blenheim Blades, Adam Vandermay- United Way, Dan Paget Blenheim Blades. The Blades beat Alvinston Flyers 8 - 5.
Blades pick up big win over rival Flyers
While the odds for a Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League North Division playoff berth seem stacked against them, Blenheim Blades trimmed those odds a bit Sunday night thanks to a huge 8-5 victory over Alvinston Flyers - the team there are trying to catch.
The Blades (6-21-0) have won all three games between the two teams at the Blenheim Memorial Arena and now trail the Flyers (11-15-0) for the fourth, and final, North Division playoff spot by 10 points with 13 games to go.
Monday night the Blades will be in Wheatley to tangle with the South Division Sharks at 7:30.
Comets rally to beat Blades 7-5
Kingsville – Game #1 in what may turn out to be the turning-point weekend of the Blenheim Blades 2009-2010 Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League season did not end well for the Blades who dropped a 7-5 inter-division game to Kingsville Comets Saturday night in Kingsville.
In two previous meetings with the South Division Comets the North Division Blades had picked up victories, and were leading 3-1 after the first period Saturday only to have the Comets tie things at 5-5 after 40 minutes, and then score an even-strength goal and an empty-netter in the third frame for a 7-5 victory.
