Alex The Great - Seguin Voted Great Lakes Jr. “C” Top Rookie
On Thursday, February 11th, 2010 The Great Lakes Jr C League held their Annual Awards Banquet. Blenheim Blades 16 year old Team Scoring Leader Alex Seguin was nominated for 2 awards. Alex finished the season out with a two goal performace against Belle River in The Blades final game of the regular season to give him 29 Goals and 40 Assists in 39 Games for a total of 69 points. That was good enough to secure 3rd Spot in Overall League Scoring. Because of Seguin’s outstanding play this season not only was Seguin nominated for the League’s Top Rookie, but he was also nominated as the League’s MVP. Although he didn’t get enough votes to bring home the MVP Award he did capture nearly every single vote for the League’s Top Rookie Award.
Two other Blades were also nominated for awards. 17 year old Defenceman Alex Cvetkovski was up for the League’s Top Defenceman Award. Cvetkovski who played in 36 games for The Blades was a defensive nightmare for opposing forwards and was continually logging his ice time against the other team’s top lines. Taylor Phillips, 18, was nominated for The League’s Desire & Determination Award. Phillips finished with a career year and was 5th in Team Scoring netting 17 Goals, 20 Assists good for 37 Points. But it was the dedication, drive and commitment on and off the ice that won him recognition from his coaches and the League.
The Blenheim Blades Executive, Coaches, Managers, Players and Alumni are all very proud of these three young men for their outstanding play, dedication and contribution to The Blenheim Blades Hockey Organization. Congratulations on your outstanding achievements.
On Saturday The Blades began the process of putting in a new dressing room floor. The funding for the new flooring was made possible by Community Futures Development Corporation of Chatham Kent (CFDCCK). Once again The Blenheim Blades Executive, Management, Coaches and Players would like to extend sincere thanks to the CFDCCK for making the new flooring a possibility.
